Anthracite extracted at the Gorlovsky field complies with the GOST 25543–88 standards, is of category “A” and has unique characteristics, that are not matched by competitors.

Anthracite from Gorlovsky, Urgunsky and Kolyvansky fields is a high quality raw material for the metallurgy industry and is an ideal substitute for expensive coke. Its main use is for ferrous metallurgy (steel and ferrous alloy production), the second main use is in the non-ferrous metals industry, which uses UHG anthracite for the production of cathodes and anodes. A small amount of UHG anthracite is used in the chemical and construction industry, and in the fuel and energy complex.

The UHG anthracite, produced by the Company, is traditionally famous for its high quality and it is by right considered as a premium-class production, protected by the registered trade mark “Siberian Anthracite”.

The quality of anthracite was explored in detail at the geological survey stage and during extraction works through examining samples from boreholes, as well as excavation and operational samples from active open-cast mines. Heavy samples were used for exploring anthracite characteristics in experimental industrial conditions with the object of using anthracite in different branches of industry. The “KuzNIIUgleobogashenie” Institute, “IOTT” Institute and “VUHIN” Institute explored anthracite’s washing qualities. The results of the research have been confirmed through practical application in the course of exploiting the “Listvyanskaya-2” washing plant.

During the last two years the Company has cooperated with independent international laboratory on the matter of production quality control. Analysis made at Company’s open-cast mines and at shipping ports confirms high quality of anthracite.

There are 5 main types of UHG anthracite produced by the Company:

• Washed lump anthracite 25–120/25–80 mm AKO brand;
• Washed lump anthracite 13–25 mm AM brand;
• Washed lump anthracite 6–13 mm AS brand;
• Unwashed fines anthracite 0–8 mm ASSH brand;
• Washed lump anthracite 0–6 mm ASH brand.

The putting into effect of washing plant “Listvyanskaya-2” allow the Company to wash all product sizes.
