3 April 2012, Moscow – JSC Siberian Anthracite, one of the world’s leading producers of ultra high grade (UHG) anthracite, announces that it has been awarded the Best Business prize at the inaugural Russia-Korea Business Awards. Siberian Anthracite has supplied UHG anthracite – a key input for the steel-making industry – to South Korean metals companies including Hyundai Steel and Posco for several years.

The Russia-Korea Business Awards are a joint initiative by the Russian and South Korean Trade Representations and the South Korean Innovation Ministry, and are supported by the South Korean Chamber of Commerce and other leading foreign trade organisations. The prize will be awarded yearly to Russian and South Korean companies for their contribution to developing bilateral relations.

“Siberian Anthracite took its first steps into Asia-Pacific markets relatively recently, so it is doubly gratifying to be held in such high esteem by our South Korean partners,” Siberian Anthracite’s Chairman Dmitry Shatokhin said at the awards ceremony in the South Korean capital, Seoul. “We are also delighted to be helping strengthen diplomatic relations between Russia and South Korea by working with our partners there to the benefit of both sides.”

The awards ceremony was attended by Russia’s Deputy Economic Development Minister Igor Manylov, South Korea’s Deputy Innovation Minister, Russian Ambassador to Seoul Konstantin Vnukov and diplomats and businesspeople from both countries.
