April 9, 2012 JSC «Siberian Anthracite», one of the world’s leading producers of ultra high grade (UHG) anthracite has successfully completed testing of a new type of fuel for boiler houses and Тhermal power plants made of anthracite waste and water (Coal water mixture made of anthracite waste — CWM (A)).
The testing was carried out in cooperation with the Novosibirsk engineering company COTES. It’s confirmed the high efficiency of the new technology and showed a significant reduction harmful emissions into the atmosphere compare with traditional firing.
Base of new type of fuel is anthracite waste (sludge and cake) with a high ash and moisture content. The test report includes recommendations for the implementation of technology CWM (A) for use in a variety of fireboxes and boiler units. The study obtained baseline data for the design of the firebox in the processing line of anthracite drying and made a pre-estimate of capital costs for the construction of the unit.
CWM(A) can be used as a primary fuel to replace coal, gas and black oil in any boiler houses, Thermal power plants, reactors, and fireboxes. Low-temperature fluidized bed — advanced technology of burning carbon-based fuels with a high level of automation can significantly improve the quality of heat supply.
«The new unique fuels from anthracite waste of Siberian Anthracite, provides new opportunities for Siberia energy. The use of CWM(A) can significantly increase the efficiency of boilers, reduce emissions and the production costs of heat», — development director of the company Sergei Korolev said.

About Siberian Anthracite
JSC Siberian Anthracite is one of the world’s leading producers of ultra high grade (UHG) anthracite. The company carries out open-pit mining at deposits in the Gorlovsky coal basin in the Novosibirsk region of western Siberia. In late 2006 Siberian Anthracite launched a 10-year investment programme to create a world-leading UHG anthracite mining and processing facility. To date, the company has upgraded and constructed extraction, processing and transport infrastructure, and substantially overhauled and expanded its fleet of mining equipment and machinery. Run-of-mine anthracite volumes have almost tripled since 2009, reaching 3.4 million tonnes in 2011. www.sibanthracite.ru
