30 July 2012, Novosibirsk. Siberian Anthracite, one of the world’s largest producers of Ultra High Grade (UHG) anthracite, announces that a meeting was held on July 25 on issues concerning the implementation of the Comprehensive Plan of Joint Events on the Selection and Training of Workers of Siberian Anthracite through 2016. The plan has been confirmed by the governor of the Novosibirsk Region and the meeting was chaired by Novosibirisk Region Minister of Labour, Employment and Human Resources Igor Shmidt.

The meeting’s agenda included a review of interim results of the plan’s implementation. Government partners involved in the implementation of the plan include ministries of the Novosibirsk region, state technical universities and colleges of the Siberian Federal District, and employment centres. Participants of the meeting included head of the Iskitim district Oleg Lagoda, specialists of the Minister of Labour, Employment and Human Resources of the Novosibirsk region, Linevo Professional College and the Iskitim Employment Centre. The 2012 targets for new hires are being met and Siberian Anthracite has organized its own professional training programs at learning centres in the Novosibirsk region as well as in the Kemerovo region. In 2011 and 2012 a total of 92 people have completed on-site job training with the opportunity to subsequently apply for positions in the company. The recruitment and training of employees is aided in part by dynasties of workers, provision of employee housing and professional retraining. The main criterion in the recruiting process is high professional qualifications in occupations in demand.

“At present Siberian Anthracite provides approximately 2300 jobs. As a part of the scheduled increase of the company’s production capacity to 9.5 million tonnes annually by the end of 2016, we also plan for a significant rise in the number of employees,” said Oksana Averina, Corporate Development Director at Siberian Anthracite. “This demand will be met through the training of our existing workforce and by attracting shift workers. We believe that an influx of qualified workers can be stimulated by the construction of housing, preschools and other social infrastructure – with support from the government of the Novosibirsk region and local administrations and the participation of the company. The inclusion the Iskitim District in the program of resettlement of ex-compatriots would also help meet these needs.”
