Sibanthracite’s exports to China to grow by more than 30% in 2022

In 2022, the Sibanthracite Group plans to increase sales to China by more than 30 percent. Over 11 million tonnes of coal will be sold to Chinese consumers.

China is Sibanthracite’s largest market, with deliveries to this country increasing by 44% over the four years from 2018 to 2021. At the same time, China’s share of total sales increased from 25% in 2018 to 38% in 2021. In 2021, exports to China amounted to 8.4 million tonnes, which is 18% more than in 2020.

Chinese demand for Sibanthracite’s products is steadily growing. This is mainly because metallurgical companies have begun to return to production levels that fell due to the economic downturn in many countries during the pandemic. In order to meet growing global demand, Sibanthracite has been exporting their products in large-capacity vessels since last year, mainly to Chinese consumers.

In 2021, the Sibanthracite Group increased overall production by 28 percent, to 22.6 million tonnes.
